Quantum network architecture of tight-binding models with substitution sequences

چکیده
We study a two-spin quantum Turing architecture, in which discrete local rotations {αm} of the Turing head spin alternate with quantum controlled NOT-operations. Substitution sequences are known to underlie aperiodic structures. We show that parameter inputs {αm} described by such sequences can lead here to a quantum dynamics, intermediate between the regular and the chaotic variant. Exponential parameter sensitivity characterizing chaotic quantum Turing machines turns out to be an adequate criterion for induced quantum chaos in a quantum network.

Time-Dependent Real-Space Renormalization Group Method
In this paper, using the tight-binding model, we extend the real-space renormalization group method to time-dependent Hamiltonians. We drive the time-dependent recursion relations for the renormalized tight-binding Hamiltonian by decimating selective sites of lattice iteratively. The formalism is then used for the calculation of the local density of electronic states for a one dimensional quant...
متن کاملPersistent currents in mesoscopic rings and conformal invariance
The effect of point defects on persistent currents in mesoscopic rings is studied in a simple tight-binding model. Using an analogy with the treatment of the critical quantum Ising chain with defects, conformal invariance techniques are employed to relate the persistent current amplitude to the Hamiltonian spectrum just above the Fermi energy. From this, the dependence of the current on the mag...
متن کاملModels for the integer quantum Hall effect: The network model, the Dirac equation, and a tight-binding Hamiltonian.
Models for the integer quantum Hall effect: the network model, the Dirac equation, and a tight-binding Hamiltonian. Abstract We consider models for the plateau transition in the integer quantum Hall effect. Starting from the network model, we construct a mapping to the Dirac Hamiltonian in two dimensions. In the general case, the Dirac Hamiltonian has randomness in the mass, the scalar potentia...
متن کاملRemarks on the Spectral Properties of Tight Binding and Kronig-penney Models with Substitution Sequences #
We comment on some recent investigations on the electronic properties of models associated to the Thue-Morse chain and point out that their conclusions are in contradiction with rigorously proven theorems and indicate some of the sources of these misinterpretations. We brieey review and explain the current status of mathematical results in this eld and discuss some conjectures and open problems.
متن کاملElectromagnetic coupling and gauge invariance in the empirical tight-binding method
We examine the requirements placed upon the Hamiltonian under the demand of gauge invariance. From these requirements we derive the gauge-invariant form of the tight-binding Hamiltonian with electromagnetic coupling. In our derivation we do not make recourse to a Peierls substitution and hence avoid introducing any ambiguities of path. Our expression transparently reduces to the familiar expres...
